Summary

Wednesday 20th March 2024  Shapley Common, Coombe Down and Mariners Way

From the car park near Challacombe Cross, we walk up to the impressive hut circles and on to Shapley Tor, with panoramic views opening up around us.  We carry on to Hookner Tor where we get a great view of Grimspound Bronze Age village, then walk down the West Coombe valley beside a delightful stream and a miners' reservoir.  At the bottom we reach the intersection with the ancient Mariners Way and follow it northwards across fields and meadows to our start point.

Cost of walk: £8.

Email [email protected] in advance if you wish to come.  Numbers are limited and therefore I need to know who is coming!  These walks take place in the morning and are finished around lunchtime.
