Moors and Valleys

"We love the idea of cycling on Dartmoor but are not super-fit, so don't want to tackle too many hills even with an electric bike. Have you got a ride that's relatively flat?"

Name: Moors and Valleys

Distance: 14 miles

Difficulty: Easy to moderate

Features: Great variety of scenery, historic settlements, fabulous views, Bellever Bridge and Soussons cairn circle

Summary

Nowhere on Dartmoor is flat, but this route has fairly gentle ups and downs, and the electric bikes make them manageable for anyone that's of average fitness.  It starts either at Postbridge or Beltor Corner above Poundsgate, and circles around the lovely West Webburn valley, as well as visiting Bellever bridge, Soussons cairn circle and a series of delightful hamlets and villages:  Dockwell, Jordan, Leusdon and Ponsworthy.  If there's time, there's the option to visit the deserted medieval village of Hutholes.  It's a wonderful mix of Dartmoor's fabulous scenery: high moorland, meadows, woodland and ancient settlements.
